Lindy Lee, born in 1954, is one of Australia’s foremost contemporary artists. Working across painting, photography, sculpture and installation, Lee explores her Australian and Chinese heritage through the prisms of identity, selfhood, portraiture and cultural authenticity. A key influence on her practice are the philosophies of Daoism and Ch’an (Zen) Buddhism, which explore the connections between humanity and nature.

With a practice spanning over 40 years, Lindy Lee has exhibited widely in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the USA. She is represented in numerous major public and private collections, including the Art Gallery of South Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art.
